Sell and ship
Who can sell on Suarte?
At Suarte, only Galleries with physical spaces can sell. Additionally, represented artists can claim their profiles. The level of artist involvement varies depending on the inventory status of the artwork, which can be categorized as either “Work of Artist” or “Gallery Owned”.
For “Work of Artist” artworks, Artists can claim their profiles once a work has been uploaded and enjoy personalized features.
For “Gallery owned” artworks, Galleries can opt not to include the Artist’s email, and in this case, no information will be disclosed or sent to the Artist, including emails, insights, or sales reports.
If the Artist already has a profile inside Suarte, the artwork will seamlessly integrate into the existing profile. This unique structure encourages harmonious, effective collaboration between Galleries and Artists, with the objective of driving greater success for both parties. Suarte’s commision
Suarte offers a transparent and collaborative commission system for Galleries selling artworks on the platform. Here’s what you need to know:
- Fees: Suarte charges a 17% commission on every original artwork sold, excluding taxes and shipping costs, with an upcoming bonification system based on volume. This commission ensures that Suarte works diligently to connect each painting with its ideal collector.
- Payment Timing: Payments from Suarte to Galleries are processed after the 24-hour cancellation policy has passed, and, if applicable, any required taxes will be added. Learn more about Tax Responsibilities to understand the process in detail.
- Reduced Commission: If an artwork is marked as sold through your Gallery, a reduced commission of 12% applies. Collectors who purchase artworks in person can also claim those pieces on their Suarte profiles, enjoying the same benefits as online buyers.
- Withdrawn Responsibility: At Suarte, Galleries have the flexibility to withdraw artworks at any moment for free, recognizing situations where sales happen outside our platform's direct influence.
However, when collectors express interest in artworks discovered on Suarte, we advocate for a partnership-driven approach. We request that such sales be finalized through our platform to honor the role of our promotional efforts and investment.
Remember, you also have the option to mark the artwork as sold on your profile and still benefit from the 12% reduced commission and will be added to your referral list. - Monthly Invoice: Suarte issues a monthly invoice on the first day of each month, representing the percentage of artworks sold in your Gallery, minus your Limited Editions income percentage. For a detailed understanding of Suarte’s billing system, refer to Suarte’s invoice guide.
Suarte is excited to announce that we are developing a bonification system that will offer reduced commissions for Galleries based on the volume of sales they generate on our platform. This means that the more artworks your Gallery sells on Suarte, the lower your commission rate can become.

Everything is available for purchase
Suarte provides galleries with complete autonomy in setting prices for their artworks. However, to offer convenience to potential collectors and boost conversion rates, the “Buy Now” feature is required for all artworks uploaded to the platform.
This feature allows buyers to purchase artworks directly from the platform, offering a seamless buying experience. Note that a chat between you and collectors will be open indefinitely once they make a purchase.
Suarte’s 24h cancellation policy allows collectors to confidently purchase since they can cancel any order within the first 24 hours.
Payments from Suarte to Galleries are processed once the 24-hour cancellation policy has expired, and, if applicable, Suarte will also send you the appropriate tax. Learn more about Tax Responsibilities to understand the process in detail.
Modifying artwork prices
At Suarte, we understand that galleries may need to make adjustments to the prices of their artworks from time to time. To provide flexibility, Galleries using Suarte have the option to modify the prices of their artworks twice, in accordance with the terms of the artwork agreement.
When modifying the price of an artwork, please note that the new price cannot be lower than 30% of the original uploading price. This ensures that there is a reasonable baseline for pricing adjustments.
To change the price of an artwork, simply navigate to the artwork in question on Suarte. From there, you can edit the price information and make the necessary adjustments. Once you’re satisfied with the new price, remember to save the changes.
If you have any questions or concerns about changing artwork pricing, contact [email protected], and a team member will answer shortly.
Selling in-store: simplified process
Galleries can sell artworks uploaded on Suarte in their physical spaces, allowing collectors to claim their new pieces directly. If the collector doesn’t have a Suarte profile, they will be added to the gallery’s referral list automatically.
How does it work?
- Client Interest: If a client shows interest in an artwork listed on Suarte, they can make payment in person at the gallery or through the platform. If you receive the payment at your gallery, a reduced commission rate of 12% applies.
- When the payment is received by the gallery, it’s important to act promptly. Visit the artwork in your profile, select it, press “Buy Now,” and provide the collector’s email address. This will allow collectors to claim their artwork on their profiles.
- Click “Mark as Sold” to ensure that the transaction is properly recorded on the platform and the artwork is marked as sold.
How to Add Artworks to the Collector’s Profile:
Once the gallery marks an artwork as sold, collectors will receive an email with a code. In their profile settings, they can press the “Claim Artwork” tab and enter the code received via email.
Payment to Suarte:
For in-store purchases, Suarte’s 12% commission will be included in the gallery’s next monthly invoice, which must be paid within 15 days of receiving it. For more information, please visit Suarte’s invoice system.
Can I make discounts?
Galleries using Suarte are allowed to modify the price of their artworks twice, according to the terms of the artwork agreement. However, the new price cannot be lower than 30% of the original uploading price.
To change the price of an artwork, the gallery can navigate to the artwork in question and edit the price information. From there, they can adjust the price and save the changes.
Shipping guidelines
To ensure a seamless shipping process, please follow these best practices:
- Shipping Prices: During the artwork upload process, galleries must at least enter their country’s national delivery price and another one for the rest of the world. Additionally, galleries have the flexibility to set specific shipping prices for different areas and countries. This allows for accurate calculation of shipping costs based on different destinations.
It’s important to provide transparent and competitive shipping prices to potential collectors. Offering free shipping can also serve as an enticing incentive to encourage sales. Remember, you can save this information for future use and change it at any time. - Confirmation of Sale: After Suarte’s 24-hour cancellation policy has ended, a sale is considered confirmed and final. Once a sale is confirmed, Galleries have a period of 7 days (168 hours) to make shipping arrangements. This time frame allows for necessary preparations and ensures prompt shipment of the artwork and collector’s satisfaction.
- Secure Packaging: Prioritize secure packaging to safeguard the artwork during transit. This helps maintain the artwork’s condition and ensures a positive experience for the collector upon delivery.
- Tracking Number: Promptly provide the tracking number for the shipment. This allows both the gallery and the collector to monitor the artwork’s progress during transit, ensuring transparency and peace of mind. Remember, you have 7 days (168 hours) to provide the tracking number once a sale is confirmed.
- Tax Responsibilities: When selling artworks internationally, it is essential to understand in which cases and how Suarte addresses VAT obligations.
If your gallery is located in Europe, follow these instructions:
Sales within the EU:
- If a gallery in Europe sells an artwork to a collector within the EU, VAT is usually applied based on the VAT rate of the country where the buyer is located.
- Suarte, as the platform facilitating the sale, may be required to collect and remit the VAT on behalf of the gallery. This can be done through the One-Stop Shop (OSS) scheme, which simplifies VAT reporting for cross-border sales within the EU. If your gallery is registered for OSS, check the appropriate box on the bank account tab in your profile. This ensures a seamless process for VAT compliance. Learn more about One-Stop-Shop.
- For these cases, after the 24h cancellation option has passed, Suarte will send the corresponding amount plus your gallery’s respective VAT.
- Sales outside the EU:
- When a gallery in Europe sells an artwork to a collector outside the EU, VAT is generally not applicable at the time of purchase.
- The collector, acting as the importer of the artwork, may be subject to VAT, customs duties, and other taxes imposed by their country upon the importation of the artwork. The collector is responsible for paying these taxes.
- Invoice: Don’t forget to include the invoice with the shipped artwork. Suarte provides customers with a receipt, but an invoice in your gallery’s name must be included separately.
If your gallery is located outside Europe, VAT is generally not applicable at the time of purchase. In these cases, the collector may be subject to VAT, customs duties, and other taxes upon importation of the artwork. The collector is responsible for fulfilling these obligations.
The buyer is responsible for these fees, and refusal to pay is not grounds for return under Suarte’s refund policy.
By following these guidelines in the specified order, galleries can optimize their shipping process, provide a positive experience for collectors, and maintain compliance with tax obligations. Should you have any further inquiries or require assistance, let us know at [email protected].
Handling returns and refunds
At Suarte, we are committed to ensuring a smooth and satisfying experience for both Galleries and collectors. We understand that refunds and returns can vary depending on the Gallery, so we encourage collectors to first reach out to the Gallery directly through our direct message section with any issues or concerns about their order.
Collectors can report an issue, and Galleris will work with them to find an appropriate solution. If you haven’t been able to reach an agreement, collectors may choose to “involve Suarte.” In such cases, a Suarte team member will review the evidence provided and make a final decision.
To see in what situations Galleries are responsible for addressing and resolving issues, visit Suarte’s return and refund policy. If your concern is in regards to a Limited Edition, visit LE’s return and refund policy.
If you prefer, you can contact [email protected] and a team member will get back to you shortly.
Collectors reviews
Once the artwork is received, buyers are encouraged to provide feedback on their purchase. These reviews will be visible to potential customers who click on the “Buy now” button for any of your artworks.
